Edinburgh Day 14 (8/11)
Ahh, a day off!
My schedule today, at least for the morning, is pretty empty. But a number of the team are taking the train to spend the day in Glasgow. I was up with them and saw them off before having a slow breakfast and lazy morning for me.
I got a workout in, and then took the opportunity to hit a laundromat nearby to get some clean clothes, including some much needed show laundry.
Next, I walked into town to a pub called The Black Cat, where a couple of our band, including the fiddle player who’d be joining us for the remainder of the run) were sitting in on a trad session. It was a high-energy set with a bunch of really talented players playing mostly Scots and Irish tunes, and it was a great time.
My parents were now back in town after spending a few days gallivanting in the Highlands, so I left the pub to meet them out for dinner. We ate in a restaurant at their hotel that specializes in Japanese/Peruvian/Brazilian cuisine. Sushi and Caipirinhas go pretty well together ;-)
Then after dinner, I hopped a bus into Old Town to catch a show that had been recommended to me by some folks back home - Mythos: Ragnarok - which is a telling of the Norse saga using the vocabulary of pro wrestling. The show drew a large, rowdy crowd, and clearly had built an audience for themselves. Ultimately for me though, while I respected the physicality of it, I was a little disappointed in the script and acting.
Then, I caught a bus home, where I met the folks that had returned from Glasgow, and we all turned in early so we’d be ready to hit the ground running on week three of our Scotland Adventure!
