Edinburgh Day 21 (8/18)
Today got underway a little early, as several of us had plans to meet at a farmer’s market in town. So, after getting up to cook, eat, journal and workout, I got moving (only a little later than I hoped) towards the Stockbridge Market.
The market turned out to be a small but adorable collection of vendors in a small park in the West End of town. There were lots of folks queued up for coffee and pastries and cheese (and paella?), and *lots* of good good doggos. Unfortunately some miscommunication meant that I wasn’t able to actually meet up with my cast mates, but it was a fun trip just the same.
From there I had some free time before I was due in the Pleasance Courtyard for an afternoon show. I took it as an opportunity to slowly stroll from the West End through the Princes St. Gardens and artist’s market that was at one end of the Gardens. I didn’t end up buying anything, but the walk was perfectly timed and the grounds were sunlit and gorgeous, with great views of the Palace up the hill, and the Fountain on the grounds.
I left the Gardens and moved through Old Town, making it to Pleasance with plenty of time to spare before the 2pm curtain of the show we were seeing. So I grabbed a snack and a table to chill and read until showtime. We were there to see ‘Hold onto Your Butts!’, and shot-for-shot parody of the movie Jurassic Park done by 2 actors and a foley artist. I had a great time - the show was very funny and cleverly done.
From there I walked back to the flat to relax a bit before walking toward the water to meet a few of our band that were sitting in at an open bluegrass session at a pub called The Bowler’s Rest. It was a high-energy time, leaning to my ear a little more old school country than standard bluegrass, but still a lot of fun, and full of talented players.
Then it was a walk home (it was another big walking day, apparently) and quiet evening in the flat.
